Our Ministry Team

Meet the hearts behind our mission: a team dedicated to guiding, supporting, and enriching your spiritual journey. Together, we strive to create a nurturing community rooted in love and faith.
A word from our pastor

Hi there! My name is Mike and I am married to my wonderful wife Jessica and we have two great kids—Ethan and Ava. I have the privilege of serving the teaching pastor of Berean Baptist Church since 2021, but have been a member of the church since 2014 and served as an elder for a number of years in the church.

I am also an adjunct professor at Jackson Hole Bible College in Wilson, WY and teach a yearly class on the book of James. It is my heart’s desire to see God’s Word intersect with the hearts of people and that impacts every aspect of my preaching and teaching ministry.

My life verse is Colossians 1:28-29
Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.

Our History

The Berean church family began in January of 1995. We began with just a few people who had a common goal: to glorify God and worship Him. The small group worshiped and prayed regularly seeking God’s will for their meeting.

In the summer of 1997 a native son of Idaho Falls, Seminary student and soon to be Church planter, Todd Wood and his wife Kristie joined this nucleus of believers. Todd and Kristie had moved back to Idaho Falls feeling a deep burden for the city and its people. Though God’s leading Todd became the pastor of Berean.

Within just a few years the Berean believers out grew the home in which they met and looked for new facilities. God blessed them with a conference room at the Idaho Falls Public Library where they met for Sunday School and worship for three years.
About the year 2000 God provided property on east First Street on which to build their own facility. Through faith, God miraculously provided enough money and volunteer labor to build a 7,200 square foot building. Five years later, an additional step of faith was taken as 6,000 square feet was added.

In 2015 Todd Wood resigned his position to minister at the Idaho Falls Rescue Mission, but continued preaching until 2016 when the church called Ken Feliciano as the next pastor. Ken served a number of years before going home to be with the Lord.

Following Pastor Feliciano, Mike Cummins was called to be the next pastor and was installed in March of 2021 and continues to serve at Berean.

Our Name

One of the most common questions about our church is “What is a Berean?” The name comes from a passage in Acts 17:10-11:

“The brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived they went into the Jewish synagogue. Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.”

We love the heart of the Bereans! They were excited to receive the Word of God and are committed to testing all things by the veracity of the Word of God. Which leads to our church motto: “Always the Word”
ALWAYS THE WORD

Dave Marr

Treasurer

I’m originally from New Mexico and I’ve lived in Idaho Falls since 2014.  I came to know the Lord in my mid-20’s.

I’ve been a Deacon at Berean since 2018.  I’ve been married since 2008 and we have two boys.

We enjoy being outside camping, hiking and working on cars (most of the time).

Richard Lopez

Building and Grounds

Jesus changed my life and I have a passion to introduce people to him so he can change their lives too.

I am married with two quickly growing kids. I love being outdoors whether it is hunting, shooting, or cooking on one of my many grills.

Bill Fleming

Chair of Deacon Board

Hi!

I love God’s Word, pickleball, working with my hands, helping my brothers and sisters in the Lord grow spiritually, hanging out with teenagers, trying out new things, reading books, solving problems, and serving the body of Christ.
